Home at last…

After six weeks of being married, Sarah and I have finally arrived at a home that we can call our own! Yesterday we flew from Beijing to Chengdu with the rest of the team and got to see our apartment for the first time. It’s wonderful. We will be posting pictures and such as soon as we can get an internet connection up.

the Great Wall

We were at the Great Wall yesterday - incredible! We took a tram up to the top, then hiked to the next three towers. Hundreds and hundreds of steps! Dan was saying that although the tourists there were of different languages, we all understood each other at the top, because we were all red-faced and breathing hard! Coming down the mountain was fun. They had an alpine slide - kind of a luge. We each had a sled that we could control the speed of as we went down. We were going pretty quickly until we caught up with some slower tourists about halfway down. :) Today begins the orientation. We have a few meetings to introduce us to the culture. It’s fun to be back with all our new friends from our time at Houghton.

In China!

It took 3 flights and a little less than 20 hours on planes, but Sarah and I are in Beijing! We’ve settled in to a hotel for a couple of days of orientation here, and will be heading to Chengdu on Friday. Be watching for pictures - we’ll be sure to take lots!

just a little while…

We have returned to NY after galavanting around New England. It’s a beautiful part of the country, and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Now, we’re attending to all the last details before leaving the country on Monday… how crazy! But on the other side, our first apartment is waiting for us… how wonderful!!

keeping busy…

We’ve left Pre-Field Orientation in Houghton, NY; spent a night at home in Vestal; and are now in a hotel in Barrington, NJ… never a dull moment for us these days, it seems. Very exciting times, too - my twin brother gets married tomorrow! I get to be his best man, and Sarah will be the pianist for the ceremony. We also will be singing at the reception. Fun times! OK, to bed…

me too!!

Hi there! We’re excited to have this up and running. Just a few more weeks and we’ll be off to China! Keep checking for new pictures and posts.

The first post!

Welcome to our new blog. Sarah and I hope to keep this updated with all of our adventures around the country and world over the next two years and beyond. Talk to you soon! :-)
