We’re Back!

After four back-to-back flights, we have made it from New York to Chengdu, China!  There were some technical difficulties along the way, but other than that, smooth sailing… I mean flying.
FYI: this website will be down for a couple of weeks, coming soon… but don’t worry; we will be back up with (hopefully) more fuctionality when we have figured everything out.

1 year today!

At

Today marks our one year anniversary.  We can’t believe how fast it has gone!
It’s been relaxing to be in the states. We haven’t filled up our schedule too much, but have been able to see lots of people.  Thursday we went out to celebrate our anniversary, eating Italian (lots of Italian - we had 2 meals worth left over at the end) and seeing a performance of Fiddler on the Roof.  Friday we went to a Double-A baseball game in Binghamton; Saturday we drove an hour north to go to a wedding.  Today we enjoy church, have fun with family, and go watch a movie.

going to the chapel…

Today we head out to see a cousin and a friend get married.  It’s currently crazy in the Roeber home because for the first time in a long time (our fault for being in China, you know) everyone is home - with wives, there are now 9 people abiding here!  There was a long line for the shower this morning… we’ll have to put up some pictures of the day’s festivities.

New York

We’ve made it to New York!  There was a bit of a delay in DC with our connecting flight getting off the ground, but we are now home.  We are looking forward to rest and seeing family and friends!

school’s done, USA

Welp, there was a post that should have been up last Saturday declaring the end of all educational activities in Chengdu International School for the next couple of weeks (we’ve gotta start working on our Chinese as teachers, ya know)… but alas and alack, it did not post.  So now I post to you, our readers, from the Travelodge outside of LAX, where we are staying for the night to pick up a 6:00am flight to DC.  Yes, we are in America!  They say there are no cats here, and the streets are covered with cheese…
The flights from Chengdu and Beijing were long, but uneventful; we have spent the last two days with Sarah’s family.  It has been good to be here.  Still jet-lagged, I think it’s time to head to bed…
