Website Update
We’ve changed around the website a bit - the old picture program I was using was attracting a bunch a spam in the comments section, and I didn’t like having it on the site. So, there’s a new site now! It’s plain for the time being - we’ll have it a little more interesting when we get back to China… enjoy!

The Price is Right
I just saw that The Price Is Right decided on a new host for their show: Drew Carey. I, for some unknown reason, enjoy watching the show - but we’ll see what it’s like with this new setup!
I’m just happy they didn’t go with Rosie.
a note from Sarah…
It’s been awhile since you’ve heard from me… never fear, I am still alive!
Dan already gave you the scoop on our airport fun. One Providential thing that he didn’t mention: as a result of our missed flight and subsequent delay, we were able to be of service to two guys from Qingdao - a city on the eastern coast of China. They were heading to school in Pennsylvania, spoke very little English, and their flight out of Dulles was canceled. As crazy as our schedule was, there was a joyous flash of clarity in knowing that we were there at that time to make their trip a little easier.
Since our arrival, we’ve been in three states, heading for a fourth tomorrow, and two more next weekend. This whole east coast travel thing still weirds me out a little, coming from a state that takes a minimum of four hours to get across and eleven from top to bottom.
My dear friend and bridesmaid, Liz, is having a baby shower tomorrow, which I am SOOOO excited to be a part of. I’ve been thinking recently about how many people I have lost touch with, and how our lives have changed since leaving Cedarville, and I am so thankful for those I can still call my friends.
On Saving the Environment
The recent Newsweek edition has a revolutionary way to save the environment - in fact, the entire earth: get rid of all the humans. It’s called the voluntary human extinction movement. No, I’m not making this up - check out their website and a recent interview. Note that this isn’t a radical extremist group - and it is actually being covered by major media.
I think that this is a great idea… if your highest good is saving the environment. Logically it makes total sense. Practically - these people are whacked.

US Travel Update
It’s been a while since I updated about our time in NY - here’s an update:
After taking an RV trip up to northern California (my first time), Sarah and I took it easy for the next week or so, enjoying July 4th fireworks with a class from church. We’ve been able to enjoy some great restaurants while in the Santa Rosa area:
- Flavor is an amazing place. I talked about going there on our anniversary; going back was even better. (Knowing the owners and getting tons of free appetizers helps.)
- The Black Bear Diner is now a series of restaurants on the western side of the US that features traditional family cooking. When they say their portions are big, they aren’t kidding - my meal was huge, tasty, and not expensive at all.
- Travelling to Oakland to pick up our flight to NY, we stopped at Fenton’s Creamery for a bite. The food was okay - the ice cream was incredible. Huge dishes, great taste.
Wow - this seems like a restaurant critic blog. Moving on: due to a late departure we missed our connecting flight in DC, and rather than wait 12 hours until the next available flight to Syracuse we were able to bump our flight to Binghamton. That flight was delayed for mechanical issues, but we eventually made it out, and now we are in Vestal! We will be here for a little less than 4 weeks, with weekend trips to Springfield, Mass., Philadalphia and Indianapolis - we’d love to catch up with people if possible; let us know if you are in any of these areas!
Election 2008 - too soon to talk about…
…yeah, I know. The election is 16 months away. But with everything I am constantly seeing, I think it would be good to put my predictions, such as they are, on paper. In the midst of primaries, the Democrats are talking up who is the front-runner: Obama came out with a statement, recently followed by Hilary’s. The Republicans, meanwhile, still have no formidable frontrunner, knowing that Guiliani has name recognition but sacrifices the base. The liberal press is out to find anything bad against Thompson they can so he is no longer regarded as the conservative savior the party needs; very little of substance has been found.
So, what’s going to happen? Here’s what I am confident on now: Clinton will win the Democratic primary, and even with tapping Obama for VP, will lose in the general. Against whom - I don’t know. Why - simple: the Democrats love Hilary, but the Republicans hate her. The election will be very partisan, and when that has happened in the recent past, Republicans come out on top.
Who will I vote for - primaries or election? Much too early to say…
The Iphone Alternative
Forget the IPhone. Get the ISock instead.

PS: I came up with the name - maybe I should get it trademarked before someone actually does come out with it…
Beware the Iphone…
This is hilarious. (Whole link included if first doesn’t work)

I was interested in the Iphone before, but no more! (Read the sarcasm of the article into the last statement.)
