The History

Dan grew up on the New York/Pennsylvania border in a family of five boys. Sarah was raised with one sister just north of San Francisco, California. In time, the Lord led each of them to Cedarville University in Ohio, where they first learned to “meet in the middle.” Dan clings to the “she never gave me the time of day” story, while Sarah accordingly says “you never asked!” In the fall of 2003, their relationship really began to blossom. As friends, classmates, and fellow musicians, they grew closer as the year went on.
Sarah graduated in 2004 with a degree in piano performance and pedagogy. The following year was spent in Columbus, Ohio teaching piano lessons at a fabulous music and art studio. She also worked as a free-lance accompanist, playing for students at Ohio State University and for a local high school choir.
Dan was finishing his senior year at Cedarville when, on December 11, 2004, he asked Sarah to marry him. She gladly said yes! (well, that’s pretty obvious right now) and began making wedding plans. Dan graduated that spring with a pre-seminary degree. A month later, they were in California, exchanging vows!
What’s Happening Now
Dan is teaching upper school theology and high school drama at Chengdu International School. The majority of his students are Korean and American, but there are 12 other nationalities represented in the student body as well. He is keeping busy playing his guitar for school assemblies and other services, and looks forward to occasional speaking opportunities as well.
Sarah currently has several piano students, which is satisfying her desire to teach private lessons. She is also teaching the middle school and high school music classes, giving her the opportunity to impart general music theory and history, as well as to direct the choir.
